New ticket pricing in place for Qatar’s museums and galleries
Qatar, in a bid to strengthen its cultural heritage and historical roots, has built several grand museums and galleries, in addition to maintaining heritage sites with great care.
On Wednesday, Qatar Museums — who maintain museums and heritage sites in the country — announced new ticket pricing for entry into its various facilities.
Entry at all venues, heritage sites and temporary exhibitions will continue to remain free of charge for Qatari citizens and residents. All one has to do is to present a valid Qatar ID card at the entrance to gain free entry.
Beginning May 31, the National Museum of Qatar, Museum of Islamic Art, and 3-2-1 Qatar Olympic and Sports Museum will all have ticket charges of QR50 per person, if he or she is a non-resident of the country. The ticket will provide visitors access to all permanent collections and exhibitions on show.
The Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art (Education City) and various heritage sites including Al Zubarah Fort will remain free of charge for both residents and visitors.
Non-resident students and large groups of 25 plus people will get a 50% discount, thanks to the new concession pricing.
Meanwhile, children under 16, employees of Qatar Museums, ICOM members, visitors to gift shops, cafe and restaurants, and participants of school and university tours will all be able to access Qatar Museum’s arts and cultural offering free of charge.
By providing affordable entry into its world-class museums, galleries, exhibitions, and heritage sites, Qatar Museums has underlined its commitment towards providing visitors with a rich cultural experience.
