Ooredoo announces Friday’s network failure was due to damaged main lines
Ooredoo released an official statement on Saturday saying the network failure experienced by its users on Friday happened due to an Ashghal contractor inadvertently damaging their main lines.
“We would like to thank our customers for their understanding and cooperation yesterday, following a connectivity disruption which occurred at 8.35pm. The outage was due to public works conducted by an Ashghal contractor, who inadvertently damaged one of our main lines,” Ooredoo said in an official statement.
Ooredoo said its engineers sprang into action as soon as the disruption was notified.
“Upon being notified, our technical team promptly responded and restored services. We will be working closely with the Communications Regulatory Authority and Ashghal to ensure such incidents do not reoccur and that our network infrastructure remains safeguarded.
“Once again, we apologise for this disruption which was beyond our control and thank our customers for their understanding,” the statement concluded.
Ooredoo users reported various network issues late Friday night. The company acknowledged the issue in a social media post, noting it was working hard to solve the problem and return services to normal as soon as possible.
