Ooredoo, Qatar's leading telecommunications and ICT provider, has unveiled its significant role in rejuvenating the Qatar Masters Open 2023 by becoming its official telecom sponsor, igniting the passion of chess lovers worldwide.
Set to take place from October 11 to 20, this prestigious event boasts a substantial prize pool of $120,000, attracting top-tier international players, including the renowned Norwegian grandmaster Magnus Carlsen.
With a dazzling grand prize of $25,000 for the ultimate victor, the tournament promises to be a remarkable experience for both ardent chess followers and newcomers alike, offering a captivating glimpse into the artistry and competitiveness inherent in the game.
Sabah Rabiah al-Kuwari, Director of PR at Ooredoo, expressed their commitment to fostering excellence and fair play through strategic partnerships and sponsorships, now extending these principles into the world of chess. She added, "We endorse the organizers' aspiration to transform the Qatar Masters Open into an annual fixture, an event to be anticipated every year until 2030."
The tournament format consists of nine rounds per day, with one day allocated as a rest day.
