Palestinian community plants a thousand trees to celebrate Qatar Environment Day

The Palestinian Community in Qatar, under the banner of Friends of the Environment Center (Bayt Al Khibra), and Ali Al Hinzab’s initiative to plant trees and combat desertification, celebrated Qatar Environment Day by planting a thousand trees.
More than 150 members of the Palestinian community, both children and adults, came to the Ali Al Hanzab Reserve to carry out the planting process across an area of half a kilometre.
The initiative, in addition to celebrating Qatar Environment Day, was aimed at increasing environmental awareness among Palestinian community members, enhancing knowledge and skills, as well as helping preserve Qatar’s environment and beauty.
“Participation in such events, whether organised by state institutions, private sector companies or NGOs is a duty of citizens and residents. Palestinian community members responded to our initiative well and we planted a thousand local trees, including Samar, Salam, Ghaf, Qart, and Raghl trees,” said Engineer Louay Bahdar, who organised the event.
He added that the trees were given names of Palestinian villages and cities, with the help of badges.
