Payments for government services to be exclusively through Himyan cards from 2025
The Qatar Central Bank (QCB) has announced the start of a digital transformation process — for payments to different government departments — in a phased manner, starting in February 2025.
The QCB said Qatar’s national payment card Himyan will become the exclusive payment method for fees paid to government entities for different services.
The move aims to raise the level of security in government transactions in Qatar and reduce the costs associated with payment processes.
The QCB reiterated that the change will not affect the quality and flow of services provided to the country’s citizens, residents, and visitors.
Further details about the digital transformation process will be announced in due time, ensuring their ease of access to government services.
Himyan is the first national payment card with a Qatari identity, owned by the Qatar Central Bank.
