Phase 3 of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions to continue throughout August: MoPH

By QLNews

Phase 3 of the easing of COVID-19 restrictions in Qatar will continue throughout August, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) announced today.

“The Ministry continues to monitor key performance indicators to ensure a balance between the continuity of providing protection to the population on the one hand and restoring social and economic life to normal, on the other hand," the Ministry said in a tweet.

The Ministry also urged individuals eligible to get the COVID-19 vaccine but have not yet been vaccinated "to take the initiative to receive the vaccination as soon as possible so that they can protect themselves, members of their families and members of society from the dangers of this disease and to contribute to the speedy return to normal life."

Yesterday, at its regular meeting, the Cabinet affirmed the continuation of procedures and precautionary measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in Qatar.

Earlier this week, MoPH also announced that over two million people in Qatar have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. As many as 2,013,080 citizens and residents of Qatar have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

MoPH continues to stress the importance of being vigilant as the risk of COVID-19 remains with two highly contagious strains of the virus that are actively circulating in the community.

Phase three of the gradual lifting of restrictions began on July 9 and is part of a four-phase plan to be delivered over the coming months.

The date of implementation and the duration of each next phase depend on the epidemic indicators, which depend greatly on the degree of compliance of the community members with the current measures, restrictions, and guidance by the government.

The Ministry urges people, including those vaccinated, to continue wearing a mask as advised and maintain social distancing.
