PHCC to conduct a mobile blood donation initiative

The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) is getting ready to launch a blood donation campaign across six of its health clinics in July.
Through a fully equipped mobile blood donation unit, the program is organized in collaboration with Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Blood Donor Center.
The campaign, which begins on Sunday, July 3, 2022, is likely to include PHCC employees.

The blood donation drive aims to replenish the blood bank's stock while also saving the lives of individuals who have been injured, are unwell, or are having various surgeries. It is being planned to commemorate World Blood Donor Day 2022 with the theme "Donating Blood is an Act of Solidarity." Participate in the effort to save lives.
World Blood Donor Day is observed on June 14 each year to increase global awareness of the need for safe blood and blood products for transfusion, as well as to emphasize the essential role that voluntary, unpaid blood donors play in national health systems.
The day also provides a chance to urge governments and national health authorities to provide appropriate resources to increase blood collection from unpaid blood donors.
"PHCC supports campaigns that promote a culture of voluntary blood donation and educate the public, our staff, and health centers on the importance of national and humanitarian initiatives that help facilitate an adequate blood supply for patients," said Huda Al Wahedi, Executive Director of PHCC's Corporate Communications Department.
From 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., the mobile blood donation unit will visit the following health centers:
- On Sunday, Al Wajbah Health Center (July 3)
- On Tuesday, Mesaimeer Health Center (July 5)
- On Wednesday, Umm Slal Health Center (July 20)
- On Thursday, Qatar University Health Center (July 21)
- On Friday, Al Wakra Health Center (July 24)
- On Tuesday, Omar Bin Al Khattab Health Center (July 26)
