PHCC urges Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to get vaccinated free of charge
Every year, there is a huge rush of people wanting to do Hajj or Umrah pilgrimages. In order to protect themselves and those around them, Covid-19 vaccinations have been made mandatory for pilgrims.
Qatar’s Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) announced that vaccines required for the pilgrimage are available free of charge to people in all of its 31 health centers across the country.
The announcement was made through the PHCC’s Department of Communicable Diseases of the Department of Infection Control.
Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in a bid to return to pre-pandemic conditions, has not imposed any restrictions on the number of pilgrims this year. There are also no age restrictions in place for pilgrims.
People who wish to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj or Umrah should have taken at least two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.
Pilgrims entering Saudi Arabia from abroad should compulsorily hold a valid vaccination certificate.
The PHCC said vaccinations (if not yet taken) should be completed at least 10 days or more before travelling to prevent complications.
Earlier this year, the Hajj and Umrah Department at the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) issued new guidelines for residents who wish to perform Hajj. Read all about it here.
