Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani received a phone call from Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Monday.
The two leaders addressed the latest developments in the crisis between India and Pakistan and explored ways to resolve it through diplomacy.
HE Sheikh Mohammed reaffirmed Qatar’s full support for all efforts to de-escalate tensions between India and Pakistan and resolve outstanding issues between the two countries through dialogue and peaceful means.
They also discussed bilateral cooperation relations and ways to strengthen and advance them.
On April 22, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, killed 26 people, mostly tourists, at the Baisaran meadows, a popular tourist destination.
The attackers, linked to the Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba group, targeted male tourists, with 25 victims being Indian and one Nepali.
The attack, the deadliest in the region since the 2019 Pulwama attack, injured over 20 others.
India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and closed the Attari border post in response, escalating tensions with Pakistan, which denied involvement.
