The season is common among the Arabian peninsula countries and brings hot, dry winds, causing low visibilities. The weather is expected to further rise and comes with the authorities warning people about heatstroke due to the hot winds bringing more heat to the body. The extreme weather conditions are also harmful to plants alike, often causing them to burn in the high temperature.
The wind moves in form of circles, and carries sand grains in them during the season. With the temperatures in the country already at an all-time high, Ministry of Public Health has previously released preventive measures that can be useful during the Smoum Wind season as well:
If you or anyone you know is showing symptoms of a heatstroke, immediately call 999
