Embracing the spirit of the holy month of Ramadan, Baladna Food Industries together with Qatar Charity (QC), is giving out long-life milk to workers in al Thakira and Al Khor Ramadan tents.

Part of the 10,000 liters of long-life milk will also be distributed to families in need, Baladna said in a statement. The collaboration comes under the ‘Qatari products supporting charity’ campaign.

Baladna, Qatar’s largest producer of fresh dairy had launched Qatar's first-ever locally produced long-life milk, earlier this year.

“We take pride in our collaboration with QC. The work they have done over the years has been extraordinary and helped millions of people. The essence of Ramadan lies in giving back to the community and we believe in continuing our commitment to Qatar and its people,” said Saba Al Fadala, Baladna’s Public Relations and Communication director.

“The workers are an integral part of Qatar’s future and need to be supported by all entities. Baladna will continue to support the local communities in every possible way, as having a comprehensive corporate social responsibility is part of our core values,” the Baladna official added.

Director of the Local Development Department at Qatar Charity, Ali Al Ghareeb, said, “QC is open to contributions from both government and private entities, to improve services provided to the local communities in various sectors."

Baladna highlighted that it has been "an active contributor to the Qatari economy over the past few years".

Following the unjust blockade imposed on Qatar, Baladna intensified its efforts to diversify its product offerings with the ambition of meeting the country’s self-sufficiency goals.

According to Qatar Tribune, Baladna is also gearing up to start production of condensed milk in the country, as well as expand its range of juices coupled with other new products in the pipeline such as sour cream and cream.

QC has set up 45 tents across Qatar during Ramadan 2019 that benefit about 350,000 blue-collared workers.

Iftar meals have been handed out to laborers in the Industrial Area and homesteads, benefiting 39,000 workers.

Additionally, charity food packages have also been distributed to 10,000 low-income families.

Overall, 3.4 million people from at least 30 countries have benefited from QC’s initiatives this year.
