Civil defence brings fire in the vicinity of Al Thumama stadium under control, no injuries

A fire, which broke out in the vicinity of the under-construction Al Thumama Stadium was quickly brought under control, according to a tweet by the Ministry of Interior (MoI).

“Civil defence managed to contain a fire that broke out in the vicinity of Althumama stadium without any casualties,” read a translation of the MoI’s tweet.

The Supreme Committee for Delivery and Legacy also made a brief statement about the incident via Twitter.

“A fire broke out in the vicinity of the Thumama stadium without injuries. Thanks to the staff of @MOI_Qatar for quickly bringing the fire under control. We wish safety for all,” said a rough translation of the tweet.

Earlier, a user had tweeted a video of the fire.

The Al Thumama Stadium, which can seat up to 40,000 people, will host games from the group stages until the quarterfinals.
