Doha Bank donates QR2 million in support of quarantined workers in Industrial Area

Adding to the list of praiseworthy initiatives in Qatar amid the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, Doha Bank has donated QR2 million to Qatar Charity (QC) for a project to support migrant workers in the Industrial Area.

The contribution supports the QC project to provide food and medical supplies to quarantined workers.

Earlier this month, based on the decision of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management to ensure public safety, some streets in the Industrial Area were closed.

The decision to lockdown a major section of the Industrial Area came after health authorities discovered a number of positive COVID-19 cases among residents, who were subjected to quarantine measure immediately.

Despite the closure of the industrial area, the Committee had earlier stressed that the daily needs of the residents living there will be taken care of.

Just this week, the Committee said the officials from the Ministry of Public Health will work to establish three mobile units for examination in the Industrial Area along with six ambulances that roam the area for random examination to ensure that residents are free of the COVID-19.

Doha Bank’s contribution at this time reflects its commitment to corporate social responsibility and bolsters the government’s efforts to contain the virus.

Earlier, the bank had also given out 1,000 tablets to QC for its E-learning initiative to support needy students to continue their education online.

Meanwhile, health authorities in the country continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
