Art has always been an integral part of Qatar's culture and heritage. In recent years, the country has established several institutions and programs to encourage artistic expression and creativity.

Qatar's stunning art galleries and public art installations are a reflection of just how significant art is to its unique identity.

The country's efforts have focused on increasing public interaction and engagement with art while also highlighting the exceptional talent of local artists by placing artworks across some key locations in Qatar.

Under this ambition, The Committee for Artworks recently signed contracts with six local artists to submit proposals for artworks and sculptures in various locations within the Development and Beautification Projects of Doha Central and Corniche.

The Committee consists of representatives from the main committee at Ashghal, Qatar Museums, the Ministry of Culture and Sports, and the Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME).

The artists will use their creative talents to revitalize some key locations in Central Doha, including the Corniche.

According to Ashghal, the beautification project seeks to create a distinctive spirit of the area coupled with a unique architectural outlook that complements its nature and history and links its roads with pedestrian and cycle paths. Overall, making the are more vibrant and easier to access.

The six Qatari artists who have signed the contracts include: Hassan Al Mulla, Salman Al Malik, Ali Hassan, Wafika Al Eissa, Mohammed Al Ateeq and Jameela Al Shuraim.

The artists expressed their delight and excitement to be invited to participate in the project.

Artist Hassan Al Mulla said, "I will work hard to present an artwork that matches the nature of the project. The artworks implemented in those areas should be designed to integrate with the surrounding environment and attract visitors to it."

Ali Hassan said, "I would like to thank the committee for inviting me to submit artwork proposal for one of the Projects in Qatar. We will work together to beautify our beloved country, Qatar."

Mohamed Al Ateeq underlined, "Qatar has its unique character and cultural heritage, so the implementation of sculptures and artworks related to this character will certainly enhance the overall aesthetic appearance."
