Doha Film Institute seeks volunteers for Ajyal festival
Doha Film Institute (DFI) has announced it is seeking more than 500 volunteers to get involved in and contribute to the smooth running of the third edition of Ajyal Youth Film Festival.
The event, to be held from November 29 to December 5, is expected to welcome thousands of Doha cinema lovers along with regional and international film industry guests.
The volunteers will be on hand to support different festival events and venues located within Katara - the Cultural Village and help with all aspects of the festival's operations.
More than 400 volunteers lent their support to Ajyal 2014, working with a variety of departments including theatre operations, the Ajyal jury, red carpet assistance, transportation, marketing, guest registration, accreditation, guest relations, hospitality and the industry department, among others.
The volunteers will be exposed to the inner workings of a major cultural event, interact with festival guests and jurors of many nationalities, gain industry experience and receive a participation certificate to demonstrate their involvement.
Interested candidates aged 18 years and above can register here.
Ajyal, meaning "generations" in Arabic, invites people of all ages to come together to discuss cinema through events that inspire creative interaction, opening up a fun, collaborative environment where young people can express themselves.
The third edition of the festival will present daily public screenings of local and international films, special events and exhibitions, the Sandbox - an interactive digital playground, school screenings, Family Weekend and the Ajyal Competition, featuring hundreds of young jurors aged between 8 and 21 years who watch and discuss shorts and features, and decide on Ajyal’s winning films.
