HE Sheikh Khalid takes charge as Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Interior

His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani took the oath as Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, before His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.
HE Sheikh Khalid assumed the leadership position following HH the Amir’s Order No. 2 of 2020.
Qatar’s new Prime Minister and Minister of Interior holds several years of distinguished experience.
He has been associated with the Amiri Diwan for over a decade.

HE Sheikh Khalid has been serving as the Chief of the Amiri Diwan since November 11, 2014, following the Amiri Order No. 5 of 2014.
Born in Doha in 1968, the new PM completed his schooling and pre-university education in Qatar.
He attained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in the United States in 1993.
His early career saw him work at Qatar Liquefied Gas Company, where he remained until 2002.
From then until 2006, HE Sheikh Khalid joined the Office of the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs.
Later in March 2006, he started to work for the Office of His Highness the Heir Apparent at the Amiri Diwan. Within the next four months (on July 11, 2006) HE Sheikh Khalid was appointed as the Director of the Office of the Private Secretary of HH the Heir Apparent.
The following year, on January 9, 2007, he assumed the role of the Director of the Office of HH the Heir Apparent.
HE Sheikh Khalid has also been serving as the Director of HH The Amir’s office ever since he came to power (June 25, 2013).
HH the Amir appointed HE Sheikh Khalid as new Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of Qatar on January 28, 2020.
On the same day, HH the Amir had accepted the resignation of Qatar’s former Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.
In a tweet on his official twitter page, HH the Amir lauded the services of the former Qatari PM, appreciating him for his sincere efforts toward the development of Qatar during his tenure.
"We thank brother Abdullah bin Nasser for the sincere efforts he had exerted from his position over the past years, which have had a positive impact on the progress of Qatar and the achievements made in all fields despite the challenges. Sheikh Abdullah has been a soldier of Qatar and will remain so in the service of this dear homeland," HH the Amir said.
Yesterday, HH the Amir also issued Order No. 3 of 2020, reshuffling the Cabinet. Their Excellencies the Ministers appointed by the Amiri Order took the oath at the Amiri Diwan before HH the Amir.
