Helicopter crash near Yemen kills high-ranking Saudi prince and seven others

A helicopter carrying several Saudi officials, including a high-ranking prince, crashed in the kingdom’s southwest near the border with Yemen, reported Al Jazeera.
Prince Mansour bin Muqrin Al Saud, deputy governor of Asir province, was on a tour of local projects west of the city of Abha when the copter crashed yesterday.
The Saudi interior ministry said that the helicopter’s wreckage has been found and an investigation was underway, according to the New York Post.
Prince Mansour bin Muqrin, who was the son of former Crown Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz, had been appointed deputy governor of Asir province earlier this year.
Prince Mansour had been touring the area with eight other government officials, who also died, the Al Arabiya news service reported.
The crash came just a day after Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a ballistic missile at an airport in the Saudi capital of Riyadh.
The BBC reported that the cause of the crash was unknown.
