Qatar continues to show the world the significance of shared responsibility and solidarity in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

While the country has been urging the international community to combine efforts in this regard, it has intensified its efforts to come to the aid of several countries in need of support to overcome the major crisis.

Just a few days back, Qatar announced sending urgent medical aid to three countries, including Angola, Albania, and Congo.

And now, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has directed sending urgent COVID-19 relief aid to several more friendly countries. These include: Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, and Serbia.

The support reflects Qatar's contribution to international efforts to tackle the infectious disease, which poses a common threat to all countries in the world.

Since the start of the pandemic, Qatar has extended a helping hand to several friendly and brotherly nations most-impacted by the disease.

Represented by the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), the country has sent medical aid and supplies to China, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Palestine, Nepal, Rwanda, Tunisia, and Algeria, among others.

QFFD also announced in a tweet on its official Twitter page that it has sent urgent medical aid to Somalia via the Emiri Air Force. The shipment contains medical supplies including personal protective equipment.

With the ambition to facilitate multilateral cooperation to effectively respond to COVID-19, Qatar also joined hands with four other countries recently. These comprise Canada, Denmark, South Korea, and Sierra Leone, to launch a global forum, the Group of Friends of Solidarity for Global Health Security.

Meanwhile, health authorities in Qatar continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, and the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
