His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani yesterday awarded the Hamad bin Khalifa Sash to Qatar’s former Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani in recognition of his valuable efforts and services for Qatar.

HH the Amir presented the award to HE Sheikh Abdullah during their meeting at the Amiri Diwan.

Upon receiving the award, HE Sheikh Abdullah expressed his delight, thanking HH the Amir for his continuous support throughout his work.

In a series of tweets on his official page, HE Sheikh Abdullah expressed his utmost pride in serving the country and his thankfulness for HH the Amir's support. “Today I express my pride and extend my sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani. May God protect him, who honored me with the granting of the Hamad Bin Khalifa Sash,” he said in a tweet.

“Serving the nation is invaluable, but I cherish my contribution and my service to the nation and I will always be so. And I hope that the honor one wins will inspire every official and citizen to do all that he can to elevate our precious country,” the tweet added.

HE Sheikh Abdullah stepped down from his former position as Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Interior earlier in January this year.

HH the Amir accepted HE Sheikh Abdullah’s resignation and issued the Amiri order No. 2 of 2020, appointing HE Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani as Qatar’s new Prime Minister and Minister of Interior.
