HH the Amir to meet US president on Tuesday: QNA
Qatar News Agency (QNA) has confirmed that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani is all set to meet US President Donald J. Trump at the White House in Washington DC on Tuesday, July 9.
The meeting will see the two leaders engage in discussions on ways to further develop Qatar-US strategic ties in various fields.
HH the Amir and the president of the United States will also exchange views on the latest developments in the region and around the world.

As part of the official visit, which begins on Monday, July 8, HH the Amir will also meet some members of the US Congress and senior administration officials.
According to QNA, different pacts will be sealed in the areas of defense, energy, investment, and air transport.
Earlier this week, William Grant, Chief of Mission and Chargé d’Affaires of the US in Qatar, while addressing a press conference said that this visit will be highly significant with several agreements likely to be signed in a bid to cement economic and security ties between the two countries.
“The two leaders are expected to discuss regional developments, bilateral security cooperation, and counter-terrorism issues,” he added.
The White House officially announced the visit earlier in June, stating that the visit will build on the longstanding partnership between the United States and Qatar and further strengthen their already substantial economic and security ties.
The bilateral meeting will be the first between the leaders since Trump hosted HH the Amir at the White House in April last year.
Bilateral relations between the two nations are very strong, with the United States and Qatar coordinating closely on a wide range of regional and global issues.
According to the US Department of State, as Qatar’s largest foreign investor and its single largest source of imports, the United States has developed a robust trade relationship with Qatar. More than 120 US companies currently operate in the country.
The United States is one of the major equipment suppliers to Qatar for the oil and gas industry. Recently, Qatar Petroleum announced its partnership with the US Corporation Chevron Phillips Chemical Co that will serve as a major boost to its petrochemical industry.
Earlier in June, Qatar signed strategic cooperation deals with 20 US states. Before that in 2018, the Qatar Investment Authority, in charge of Qatar’s investments abroad, announced that it was looking to invest $45bn in the US within the next two years.
