HH the Amir meets Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister
To review bilateral relations between Qatar and Lebanon, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Lebanon’s Caretaker Prime Minister Dr Hassan Diab met in Doha yesterday.
The meeting, which took place at HH the Amir’s office in Al Bahr Palace delved into ways of boosting cooperation between Qatar and Lebanon.
The Lebanese Caretaker PM is on an official visit to Qatar and met with several officials during his visit.
During his meeting with HH the Amir, Dr Diab briefed the Qatari leader on the latest political and economic challenges faced by Lebanon. He also spoke about the efforts being made to address the crises.
The Lebanese Caretaker Prime Minister acknowledged Qatar’s unrelenting support to his country and his people.
HH the Amir reiterated Qatar’s solidarity with Lebanon and its brotherly people. He called on all Lebanese people to prioritize the national interest and to accelerate the formation of a new government to allow stability in Lebanon.

Later, in a press conference held at the headquarters of the Lebanese Embassy in Doha, Dr Diab stated that the talks he had with the Qatari officials were positive and constructive.
He thanked HH the Amir for Qatar’s continuous support for Lebanon and its assistance to the Lebanese people in various ways.
The Lebanese Caretaker PM mentioned that he highly valued Qatar’s position at various times including the country’s support in rebuilding cities and homes after the destructive Israeli aggression on Lebanon in 2006.
He also pointed out Qatar’s generous sponsorship of the Lebanese understanding in the Doha Agreement that led to the end of a national crisis in 2008.
In more recent times, he highlighted Qatar’s immense humanitarian support following the deadly Beirut Port Explosion in August 2020.
