HH the Amir, President of Afghanistan review bilateral relations

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani held official talks with the President of Afghanistan Dr Mohammad Ashraf Ghani at the Amiri Diwan yesterday.

HH the Amir welcomed President Ghani and the delegation accompanying him and expressed his confidence that their visit would further cement Qatar-Afghanistan relations.

The Afghan president appreciated HH the Amir for the warm reception and highlighted the significance of the relations between the two nations.

He also praised Qatar’s hosting of the Afghan peace negotiations and the country's role and commitment to peace in Afghanistan.

During their meeting, HH the Amir and President Ghani discussed bilateral ties between Qatar and Afghanistan. The talks also focused on the latest developments in Afghanistan pertaining to the Afghan peace negotiations currently ongoing in Doha.

A number of top officials from Qatar including ministers and sheikhs joined the meeting.

Members of the official delegation accompanying the President of Afghanistan also participated in the session.

HH the Amir also hosted yesterday a luncheon banquet at the Amiri Diwan in honor of President Ghani and the Afghan delegation.

President Ghani left Doha last evening at the end of his official visit to Qatar. He was seen off at Hamad International Airport by His Excellency the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and HE Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the State of Qatar Abdul Hakim Dalili.
