HH The Emir arrives in Russia for short visit, to discuss various issues with Putin

HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who arrived in Moscow for a short work visit yesterday, will meet Russian president Vladimir Putin and is expected to discuss about conflicts around the world.
HH The Emir is expected to discuss about the wars in Syria and Yemen as well as the situation in Palestine, reported Al Jazeera.
The work visit comes amid a massive evacuation of civilians and fighters from Eastern Ghouta near the Syrian capital Damascus after Russia negotiated with rebel groups to leave the area for opposition-controlled Idlib province.
Meanwhile, Russian ambassador to Qatar Nurmakhamad Kholov said his country was Qatar’s trusted partner both in terms of bilateral and international co-operation, according to Gulf Times.
He said bilateral relations between the nations are witnessing a significant and increasing growth in the political, economic, trade and scientific fields.
Commenting on the visit of HH The Emir, the ambassador said bilateral cooperation has improved dramatically and now both parties are keen to elevate their partnership even more at all levels.
He added there was a close interaction between the organizing committees of the 2018 Russia and 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cups.
“We’re pleased with the fruitful cooperation with our Qatari partners through national football unions, sharing our experience in the field of ensuring the safety of sport events, as well as in the training of athletes and the development of sport medicine,” the ambassador was quoted as saying by The Peninsula.
HH The Emir, when he meets Putin, will become the first world leader to visit the Russian since his recent re-election as the country’s president.
Qatar’s Ambassador to Russia HE Fahd bin Mohammed Al Attiyah said HH The Emir’s visit to Moscow emphasised the strength of Qatari-Russian relations.
“Both the countries aspire to increase investments, trade and economic cooperation,” Al Attiyah said, adding that Qatar has the infrastructure for the Russian products to reach Doha through the country’s ports and airports with ease, according to Qatar Tribune.
The Emir's visit, to be followed by several meetings between businessmen of the two countries, will also pave the way for streamlining of several administrative and legal procedures to facilitate the movement of bilateral trade, Al Attiyah said.
