HH The Emir denounces unjust siege on Qatar, says country open to talks
HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani termed the decision by four neighbouring countries to cut ties as an ‘unjust siege’ and has said he is open to talks to try and solve the crisis.

“We conveyed that Qatar is ready to conduct a dialogue to solve the problem as we already know that no one will win. We’re all brothers and suffering because of this crisis. Therefore Qatar is open to dialogue in accordance with agreements binding on all parties and by respecting the sovereignty of states,” Sheikh Tamim was quoted as saying by Al Jazeera during his visit to Indonesia yesterday.
HH The Emir is visiting Indonesia, which has the world’s biggest Muslim population and enjoys close ties to the Arab world.
Sheikh Tamim also discussed the crisis with Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
The Emir expressed his happiness over the visit to Indonesia, noting the issues of mutual interest that were addressed during the talks, especially in the areas of investment, infrastructure, energy and tourism, according to The Peninsula.
The Indonesian president described the Emir's visit as a very important event as it is the first state visit of the Emir to the country. It also coincided with the 41st anniversary of Qatar-Indonesia diplomatic relations, reported Qatar Tribune.
The Emir and the Indonesian president witnessed the signing of a number of bilateral agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoU).
Earlier in the day, the Emir was accorded an official reception at Bogor Presidential Palace where he also reviewed a guard of honour. A 21-gun salute was accorded during the ceremony.
Following the reception, the Emir planted a Jasmine flower tree, the national flower of Indonesia, in the presidential palace garden.
