
HH The Emir and Vladimir Putin vow to bolster ties between Qatar and Russia

HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, who is on a working trip to Moscow, met with Russian President Vladimir Putin yesterday.
The two powerful leaders discussed ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation in several fields including defense, energy, economy, investment, trade exchange and scientific research, reported Gulf Times.
The two leaders also explored means to boost co-operation in the organisation of the FIFA World Cup and exchange of expertise, especially as Russia is set to host the FIFA competition this year.
HH the Emir and the Russian president also discussed various regional and international issues of common interest.
Putin said the two nations are maintaining constant communications and stressed ‘relations between Qatar and Russia have completed 30 years in 2018.’
He added that the volume of trade and investment is increasing but it has tremendous scope of further growth.
HH the Emir attended a dinner banquet, hosted in his honor by the Russian President, at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow.
During the banquet, the two leaders discussed about results of the work done by the Qatari-Russian joint committee for trade, economic and technical cooperation and the prospects of enhancing them. They also discussed plans to develop military cooperation between the two countries, reported Qatar Tribune.
The two leaders witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement in the field of science and education between Qatar Foundation and Rosneft.
Under the agreement, Rosneft will open a research center at the Qatar Science and Technology Park, reported Qatar Tribune.
