Laws in Qatar guarantee human rights and fundamental freedom for people: official

Qatar is a country that respects people from all walks of life, irrespective of their religion and ethnicity.
That is one of the key reasons why Qatar has been ranked the second happiest nation in the Middle East and the 32nd happiest around the world.
Qatar’s strong legislations are seen as guaranteeing protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms and are built into the country’s permanent constitution. It also looks down on and prohibits racism and discriminatory practices as well, a senior Qatari official said.
Doha International Centre for Interfaith Dialogue Chairman Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi said the country’s efforts to protect religious freedoms were clear and well-documented, according to Gulf Times.
Speaking at the three-day Conference on the Promotion of Religious Freedom organised by the US State Department, he said Qatar guaranteed people the freedom of belief and worship. He added that Qatar had not experienced any discrimination based on religion or sex.
The conference focused mainly on the importance of promoting religious freedom all over the world and helping those nations in need to overcome challenges they face in their countries.
Special emphasis was placed on international commitments to promote religious freedom and the identification of concrete ways to combat religious persecution and discrimination, reported The Peninsula.
The conference discussed at length about issues pertaining to religious freedom, women’s rights, combating extremism and terrorism, economic prosperity and providing support and care to victims of religious violence or persecution.
Several religious figures and individuals from around the world spoke about their experiences at the conference, which saw people from over 80 countries take part, reported Qatar Tribune.
