Launched in cooperation with major shopping malls, the discounted prices came into effect yesterday and will continue until the end of the holy month of Ramadan, the Ministry announced in a statement.

This is a long-standing annual initiative of the Ministry that has driven efforts to meet the needs of the citizens and residents for reduced-price consumer goods during the holy month in which spending on food items is noticeably high.

Basic commodities such as flour, sugar, rice, pasta, harees, oil, milk, and other food and non-food items whose consumption increases during the holy month are part of the initiative.

The Ministry has been coordinating with suppliers to identify commodities that witness increased demand during the holy month in a bid to offer these goods at the most reasonable prices.

The list of discounted consumer goods has been circulated to all major shopping malls in the country, and is accessible to consumers through the Ministry’s website and social network pages.

The Ministry further warned that violations of the Consumer Protection Law and its regulations will strictly not be tolerated.

Furthermore, the Ministry said it will conduct increased number of inspections to crack down on violations.

Those who violate the laws and ministerial decrees will be referred to competent authorities, who will in turn take appropriate action in order to protect consumer rights, the Ministry further stressed.

The public is urged to report any violation of the resolution’s provisions.
