New emergency medical center opens in Industrial Area

New emergency medical center opens in Industrial Area

By QLNews

Qatar continues to build and strengthen its world-class health system.

The country's Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) has been working diligently to develop the health system with new, quality services and facilities to meet the demand of the rising population.

This is even more prominent as the country tackles the COVID-19 pandemic. The proactiveness and efficiency of the health system have ensured early detection, timely care, and appropriate management of COVID-19 cases.

Earlier, Qatar transformed some of its existing facilities into dedicated testing and treatment centers and hospitals for COVID-19 patients.

A 200-bed field hospital for workers in the Industrial Area was also established followed by the second field hospital, the Labseer Field Hospital, in Al Shahaniya- Dukhan Road.

Building on its network of hospitals and facilities, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) yesterday announced the soft launch of the Industrial Area Satellite Emergency Department (IASED).

This marks an important milestone in urgent care in Qatar, HMC said.

IASED will manage less severe medical cases in the community while the more severe cases will be referred to a tertiary care center such as the Hamad General Hospital, HMC said.

The center is particularly significant as it will allow people living and working in the Industrial Area to access care when needed.

HMC's System-Wide Incident Command Center (SWICC) Committee Chair Dr Saad Al Kaabi visited the center yesterday as it was launched.

According to HMC, there are plans to open a similar center very soon in the Ras Laffan area.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.

Here's everything you need to know about the virus, including ways to protect yourself.
