New service office at SFD to expedite procedures

Intending to offer enhanced services and easy access to the public, the Search and Follow-up Department (SFD) under the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has launched a new office with integrated counters.

The new office is located within the SFD headquarters on Salwa Road and will help facilitate visitors to gain faster access to the department’s services.

Some 20 counters have been installed at the office, which will be open from 6 am to 6 pm every day. The large seating area at the office can accommodate up to 150 visitors.

SFD Director Brigadier Abdullah Jaber Al Lebda said, "The opening of this office comes as an advanced step in facilitating easy access for citizens and residents to the services being provided by the department.”

He added that the new office will help reduce the time and effort visitors have had to experience previously and will make service delivery much smoother.

SFD is a specialized department that oversees the implementation of law regarding entry, residence, and exit of expatriates in Qatar.

The department also makes certain that workers who leave the country receive their full legal rights.

The new office is equipped with advanced technology that will expedite service procedures and reflect in faster completion of transactions.

A team of highly qualified officers will help visitors with their requests at the service counters. This will eliminate the need for visitors to go to any other employees or service halls.

The new office also includes five counters for officers to facilitate and approve requests, receive inquiries, listen to visitor concerns, and solve relevant problems to complete the transactions.

Assistant Director of SFD, Lieutenant Colonel Ali Ahmed Al Kuwari said, "This office is a great qualitative development in providing excellent services to the visitors and functions in line with MOI’s direction towards achieving its strategy.”

According to Al Kuwari, most employees have received training to manage procedures related to visitor requests at a single counter.

“The office will work in two shifts. It will receive applications for various services provided by the department from 6 am to 1 pm. Applications from expatriates who surrender to leave the country will be received from 1 pm to 6 pm,” he added.
