PM inaugurates Water Quality Monitoring Laboratory

Qatar has always strived to achieve excellence across different fields.
With the aim to ensure the highest quality of water delivery in all areas of the country, the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) has set up a Water Quality Monitoring Laboratory.
His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani yesterday inaugurated the lab in Al Thumama.
The lab is equipped with sophisticated technologies and will focus on monitoring water quality in Qatar, round-the-clock.
The monitoring of water will start from the main sources, through the distribution networks until it reaches the consumer, according to a statement by Kahramaa.
HE Qatar’s Minister of State for Energy Affairs Saad Sherida Al Kaabi and Kahramaa president Essa Hilal Al Kuwari joined HE the PM at the inauguration of the lab.
HE the PM inspected the various facilities of the lab and was given an overview of its functions.
Kahramaa has ensured that the lab utilizes the most advanced tools to augment the effectiveness and accuracy of the tests.
The lab features six advanced technologies to study physical, chemical, and biological elements that play a role in bettering water quality.
Additionally, the lab makes use of five modern instruments for measuring and controlling toxicity, turbidity, and acidity levels in the water.
The project also entails scientific research and development, educational and awareness activities, special analysis laboratories, radiological examination sections, and sample storage stores.
In a tweet, HE the PM said, “Within the framework of the development and modernization plan adopted by the state, today we launched a water quality laboratory, which will ensure the delivery of highest quality drinking water to all regions of the state.
“This laboratory, which is a vital and important facility for our country, was designed according to the latest international standards in this field and is equipped with advanced technologies, most of which are environment friendly.”
HE Al Kaabi commented, “The new laboratory facility meets the country’s strategic objectives of delivering water to all parts of the country at the highest quality and the continuous monitoring of all factors that might affect its quality.”
