A portrait of HH The Emir, painted by 13,824 people, sets a new Guinness record
Qatar has always dared to dream bigger things and things are no different this national day.
Thousands of people — 13,824 to be exact — came together to draw a giant portrait of HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, just in time for the Qatar National Day, reported Gulf Times.
Qatar thus set a new Guinness World Record for having the highest number of people take part in the creation of a portrait.
Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Interior HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani inaugurated the huge portrait at the Police College pavilion in Darb Al Saai on Sunday, reported Qatar Tribune.
The Guinness Certificate of Record was handed over to participants by Patil, the first arbitrator at the Guinness Book of Records.
The image, aptly titled ‘The Dignity Image’ had been launched by the Police College.
“Among the prominent activities at the Police College pavilion this year is the activity of ‘The Dignity Image’ of Emir,” Director-General of the Police College Brigadier Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhana Al Marri had earlier told The Peninsula.
No participant was allowed to be a part of the quest twice and each of them were meticulously logged using name, ID number, age, nationality, time of registration, exit time and details on which part of the portrait he or she painted.
The total length of the portrait is 12M and its width is 7M.
