
Prime Minister visits medical factories, isolation complex

Qatar's leadership together with competent authorities continues to ensure that all necessary measures and procedures are in place to protect the health of the population amid the current novel coronavirus (COVID-19) challenge.
Recently, the Government Communications Office (GCO) assured the public that the country maintains a strategic stock of food, consumer goods, and medical supplies to meet the demands of the citizens and residents.
Yesterday, His Excellency the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani visited a number of factories of medical products and supplies in the small and medium industries zone in the Industrial Area.
During the visit, HE the PM assessed the production progress of medical products and supplies as well as their adequacy to meet local market needs in the country.
Among the factories he visited were: Qatar Pharma Pharmaceutical Industries Factory, Qatar Al-Hayat Pharmaceutical Industries Factory and Al-Maha Medical Supplies.
At the medical factories, HE the PM was briefed about the strategic plans of these facilities and their production capacities of medicines, sanitizers, and masks.
As part of the visits, HE the PM also inspected laboratories, warehouses, and the workflow of factories in line with their manufacturing plans. The plans focus on fulfilling local needs of medical supplies in addition to exporting medical products to friendly countries.
HE the PM commended the efforts of the factories, their management and staff. He acknowledged the role of the private sector in various fields, specifically the medical field in supporting the national executive plan to tackle COVID-19.
Moreover, HE the PM also visited a medical isolation complex and hospital in Umm Salal in the Industrial Area.
The isolation complex and hospital have been established by the State under measures to fight COVID-19.
During his visit to the complex and hospital, HE the PM was informed about the medical capabilities of the facilities. With a 12-500 bed capacity, the facility contains all necessary amenities and meets the required safety and health standards.

A little over a week ago, HE the PM had also visited Hamad Medical Corporation's (HMC) Communicable Disease Center, which is dedicated to the treatment of patients who have contracted the disease.
He also listened to a brief explanation of the regulations and mechanisms on procedures, personal medical protection equipment and medical devices available at the center, which are in line with the highest safety and prevention standards.
Health authorities in Qatar continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.
