Qatar accuses blockading countries of fragmenting the GCC

While different people look at the success of the ongoing blockade against Qatar in different ways, nobody can deny that it has led to a fracture of the idea of the Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC).
Recently, Bahrain’s Foreign Minister and then their king called for Qatar’s dismissal from the GCC.
Hitting back, Qatar has now accused the blockading nations of being responsible for the dissolution of the GCC, according to Al Jazeera.
“The developments in the region that resulted in the actions undertaken by the blockading countries against Qatar has backfired and caused a crisis in international diplomacy for them,” Qatar’s Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani said, during a joint Press conference with his Iraqi counterpart Ibrahim Al Jaafari in Doha.
Sheikh Mohammed accused the siege nations of refusing to start a dialogue after failing to prove the accusations against Qatar, reported The Peninsula.
The Minister said that the siege countries’ attempts to undermine the Gulf crisis has failed and that the failure reflected their inability to see serious repercussions that are beginning to surface.
Sheikh Mohammed said international efforts to combat terrorism and resolve crises in the region have been affected by the obstinacy of the embargo countries.
“Qatar adopts a language of reason and calls on all to resort to dialogue and to prove that their fears are based on solid foundation, and not to invest money to demonise Qatar,” he was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
The FM said Qatar hopes that wisdom will prevail and the siege countries will overcome their aggressive behavior and move towards a prudent approach that relies on dialogue to settle the crisis.
