By QLNews

Since the start of the COVID-19 crisis, Qatar has been highlighting the need for international solidarity to overcome the challenge.

Upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the country has generously given medical as well as financial aid to nations most impacted by the virus.

In the last couple of months, Qatar has come to the aid of several countries across the world including, Belarus, Paraguay, China, Iran, Italy, Lebanon, Nepal, Palestine, among others.

As the country continues to combat the virus locally, it has also maintained a strong focus on helping other countries tackle the global threat.

Extending its support beyond its borders once again, Qatar has delivered medical aid to El Salvador.

The first batch of this medical aid including essential equipment and supplies was handed over by the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of El Salvador. The aid was provided by Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD).

The Minister of Health of the Republic of El Salvador Dr Francisco Alabi and Acting Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar to the Republic of El Salvador Tariq Othman Al Othman participated in the handing over of the supplies.

Dr Alabi appreciated the support from Qatar, saying that the medical aid would enhance the capabilities of his country's health system as well as improve the level of medical services offered to citizens.

Meanwhile, health authorities in the country continue to implement the highest level of monitoring, detection, and management procedures to deal with the virus, the public has been advised to follow certain measures to safeguard their health.

For any queries, or concerns related to COVID-19 in Qatar, the public can contact a 24/7 hotline set up by the Ministry. The hotline number is 16000 and is toll-free.
