Qatar, Nigeria pledge to strengthen bilateral relations
HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with the Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa in Abuja yesterday.
The two leaders engaged in discussions centered on enhancing bilateral ties and developing them in all sectors, particularly in the economic, investment, energy, agriculture and infrastructure fields.

A number of regional and international developments were also part of the talks between the Qatari ruler and the Nigerian President.
Members of the official delegation accompanying HH the Amir and some Nigerian ministers and senior officials also attended the session.
HH the Amir was accorded an official reception upon his arrival at the presidential villa.
Later, President Buhari hosted a luncheon banquet in honor of the Qatari Amir, which was also attended by members of the delegation accompanying him, in addition to a number of ministers and senior officials from the Nigerian side.
Upon HH the Amir’s arrival at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, earlier in the day, he was received by the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Abuja Muhammad Bello, Qatar's ambassador to Nigeria Abdulaziz bin Mubarak Al Mohannadi, and members of the Qatari embassy.
The Nigerian Minister of the Federal Capital Territory presented an honorary key to the capital Abuja to HH the Amir as a welcome gift during the reception. This was followed by a welcome performance by a folkloric Nigerian group.
HH the Amir left Abuja in the evening upon the conclusion of his state visit to Nigeria and was seen off by the Nigerian FM Onyeama and other dignitaries at the airport.
Later on HH the Amir acknowledged President Buhari and the friendly people of Nigeria for the warm welcome, hospitality and honor accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during their visit.

The tour was part of HH the Amir's visit to Africa which also incuded a state visit to Rwanda earlier this week.
The Qatari-Nigerian relations are developing on the basis of strong ties between the two countries for years, reflecting in the rapid development in many political, economic, commercial, cultural and investment fields.
The two countries share common positions on a number of Arab, African, international and humanitarian issues.
They also belong to human communities, geographical areas that are co-operative and convergent politically, socially, historically and culturally.
