Qatar is ready to help Italy in dealing with coronavirus, HH the Amir says to Italian PM

Qatar and Italy have always shared strong friendly relations that have been cemented through strategic cooperation across various fields including economy, politics, defense, investment, and education, among others.

The state visit of Italy’s President Sergio Mattarella to Qatar in January this year provided a fresh impetus to the bilateral ties between the two nations.

Now, as Italy faces the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, which has reached all of its 22 regions with 4,600 cases reported thus far, Qatar has expressed its desire to support the country in this major health challenge.

In a telephonic conversation with the Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte, HH the Amir expressed his confidence in Italy’s abilities to fight the virus outbreak and said Qatar is ready to provide all the possible help in this regard.

On behalf of Qatar and its people, HH the Amir shared his condolences with the Italian PM for the families of the COVID-19 victims and wished a speedy recovery to those who have been affected by the disease.

The Italian PM thanked HH the Amir for his interest and support of Italy in combating the virus and welcomed Qatar’s cooperation in this regard. 

During the phone call, HH the Amir and the Italian PM also reviewed Qatar-Italy bilateral relations and ways to further strengthen them.

Additionally, the two parties discussed the most recent regional and international developments, such as the situation in Libya and ways to ensure its security and stability.
