Qatar sends medical aid to Liberia

By QLNews

Qatar continues to show its remarkable humanitarian spirit, extending support to friendly countries, as the world battles with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

Adding to the list of countries it has been supporting throughout the pandemic, Qatar provided medical assistance to Liberia to help the country curb the spread of COVID-19.

The medical assistance was provided by Qatar Charity and delivered by the Qatari Embassy to the Republic of Liberia.

Liberia's Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration Shedrick Jackson; Liberia's Assistant Foreign Minister for Afro-Asian Affairs Naomi Gray; Public Health Emergency Operation Center (PHEOC) Manager Abraham Nyenswah; and Charge d'Affaires at Qatar's Embassy in Liberia Fahad Rashid Al Muraikhi were present on the occasion.

Liberian Assistant Foreign Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration highlighted that Qatar's generous support will help the Liberian government advance its efforts to combat COVID-19. He also recognized the strength of the relations between Qatar and Liberia.

Charge d'Affaires at Qatar's Embassy in Liberia Fahad Rashid Al Muraikhi underlined that Qatar's support is meant to further strengthen bilateral ties and reflects Qatar's contribution to international efforts to tackle the infectious disease, which poses a common threat to all countries in the world.

Since the start of the pandemic, Qatar has been stressing the need for international solidarity and combined efforts to overcome the challenge.

Upon the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the country has generously given medical as well as financial aid to nations deeply impacted by the virus.

Recently the Government Communications Office (GCO) highlighted that Qatar has delivered medical assistance to more than 80 countries across the world since the outbreak of COVID-19.
