
Qatar and Sudan to jointly build the Red Sea coast’s largest sea port

Ever since the illegal blockade of Qatar began, the country has been trying innovative methods to ensure its food security.
The opening of the Hamad Port helped the nation ensure a steady supply of food and other materials into the nation. Now, Qatar has initiated joint plans with Sudan to build the largest port in the Red Sea coast, thereby further improving its food safety, reported The Peninsula.
This was a fresh blow to the blockading countries that wanted to target Qatar’s economy, reported Qatar Tribune.
Sudanese Minister of Transport Makkawi Awad told the Sudanese parliament that Qatar intends to develop ‘Port Sudan’ to be the largest container port to serve Sudan and its neighbours.
The Sudanese official dismissed reports linking it to the Dubai Ports Company as a rumour.
Minister of Finance HE Ali Sherif Al Emadi had visited Sudanese capital Khartoum recently, meeting President Omar Al Bashir and discussing economic relations between the two countries.
The amount of Qatari investments in Sudan is estimated at more than $ 3.8bn, according to the Sudanese Ministry of Investment.
