Turkey detains five people suspected of being involved in QNA hacking
The ongoing illegal siege of Qatar, which began on June 5, is built on false premises, with the Qatar News Agency (QNA) having been hacked and false statements attributed to HH The Emir posted on it.
Qatar got help from the FBI in investigating the crime and last month, made their findings public, accusing the UAE of carefully orchestrating the hack of QNA.
And now, reports coming out from Turkey suggests that five people have been detained by authorities in connection with the hacking of QNA, reported Gulf Times.
Qatar’s Attorney General HE Dr Ali bin Fetais Al Marri told QNA that Turkish authorities had detained five people as part of co-operation between Qatar and Turkey in combating cyber crime.
“Our friends in Turkey answered us a short time ago. Five people were arrested and they’re being investigated. The prosecutors in Qatar are working with the Turkish authorities to follow this case,” Al Marri was quoted as saying by Qatar Tribune.
Immediately after the hack, Qatari authorities began investigations both inside and outside the country. They contacted friendly nations and asked their help on the subject, given that electronic crimes do not recognise borders by their nature.
Officials of Qatar's Ministry of Interior (MoI) had announced on July 20 they have evidence to prove the cyberattack on the country's official media originated from the UAE.
