UK foreign minister Boris Johnson asks Arab states to end Qatar blockade

Ever since the illegal siege of Qatar was initiated by its neighbouring nations, the country has been trying to bring it to an end by diplomatic means.
Qatar has always taken the moral high road, refusing to be drawn into by taunts and false reporting by media from the blockading countries.
This stance has also won the country many supporters, with leaders in the USA and Germany, among others, offering support.
Now, UK’s foreign minister Boris Johnson has met with HH The Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to discuss the latest developments in the GCC and its implications in terms of regional and international stability, reported Gulf Times.
Johnson extended UK’s support to Kuwait’s mediation efforts, led by HH The Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmed Al Jaber Al Sabah.
The meeting, which took place at the Al Bahr Palace, also dealt with issues terrorism and extremism and the ways to enhance bilateral cooperation as part of regional and international counter-terrorism efforts.
Qatar’s foreign minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani also met with his counterpart in Doha and discussed about bilateral relations and means to enhance them, reported The Peninsula.
Sheikh Mohammed said that enforcing unilateral measures on Qatar was against the Charter of the United Nations and a severe violation of international law, which led to grave humanitarian consequences and human rights violations.
Earlier, Johnson called for ‘dialogue’ to resolve the Gulf dispute and reiterated London’s support for Kuwait's mediation efforts, reported Al Jazeera.
He made the call during a meeting with Kuwait’s foreign minister in Kuwait City.
“My impression is that progress can be made... But I’m not going to pretend that it’s going to be overnight,” Johnson was quoted as saying.
“Let's keep our fingers crossed, let’s keep working for common sense and for deescalation on both sides,” he added.
