WATCH: The Emir's interview with Charlie Rose
Since the Gulf Crisis began on June 5th, HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani has not given any interviews, regarding the blockade or otherwise.
That all changed this morning, when he was spotted at a restaurant in Katara Cultural Village sitting, supping and talking with Charlie Rose, a renowned American journalist and talk show host.
Rose has previously interviewed the Emir's father, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, as well as Qatar's former Prime Minister, Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani. Rose has hosted his own exclusive interview show, distributed across the USA by PBS, since 1993.
People that happened to be at Katara this morning showed open surprise and delight upon seeing HH the Emir, who stopped to greet them and pose for pictures.
Dr. Everette E. Dennis, the Dean and CEO of Northwestern University in Qatar, was also seen walking and in conversation with HH the Emir.
The exact nature of the interview remains a mystery that only time will tell, but for now, we wait with bated breath. If the outpouring of support for HH the Emir during his speech at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly is any indication, his first interview since the blockade began will not disappoint.
