
Qatar Airports to levy new passenger fees from April 1

The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority recently released a circular (2) relating to the amendment and introduction of service fees at airports in Qatar. The circular was sent to all airline managers and travel agents and is effective from April 1, 2022.
The Authority has decided to review the current passenger fees and add new passenger fees that include air freight infrastructure fees and security fees too.
All these changes are effective from midnight of April 1, 2022, so these fees will be included on all tickets issued on or after February 1, 2022.
The amended fees mentioned in the circular are as follows:
Airport development fees for all departures as well as passengers in transit up to 24 hours is QAR 60 per person. The same price is further applicable for passenger facilities fees for all passengers in departures and transit for up to 24 hours.
Passenger safety and security fees is applicable for all departing passengers at QAR 10 per person. This fee is however exempt for a baby under two years of age, passengers transiting on the same aircraft, and flight crew on duty. Even crew that is traveling on a forced flight redirection owing to weather conditions or other technical difficulties are exempt from paying this fee.
All incoming and in-transit cargo shipments will pay QAR 10 per metric ton as air freight station fees. Only the shipments remaining in the same aircraft in transit will be exempt from this fee.
