Qatar Airways, Hamad International Airport are official partners for Expo 2023 Doha
Two key entities — Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport (HIA) — have joined hands with Expo 2023 Doha as the six-month-long horticultural exhibition gears up to become the next mega event hosted by the country.
On Thursday, the three entities formalised the agreement during a ceremony hosted by Qatar’s Ministry of Municipality. It is a significant milestone whereby all parties will work together to elevate Expo 2023 Doha’s tourism potential.

The Expo 2023 Doha, which is set to run at Al Bidda Park from October 2 to March 28, 2024, is expected to attract over three million visitors. It will be a first-of-its-kind initiative to be held in Qatar and the Middle East.
Qatar’s national carrier, after a year of growth marked by the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, will continue to raise the country’s profile as an unparalleled destination by promoting Expo 2023 Doha as a must-visit attraction for travellers and business visitors.

The airport will become Expo 2023 Doha’s strategic partner, supporting the hosting of Expo visitors from the region and around the world.

The first months of 2023 registered a record number of visitors in Qatar compared to the previous record in 2016 for the same period of time, marking the revival of tourism in the country and the post-World Cup momentum.

HIA’s Chief Operating Officer Engr. Badr Mohammed Al Meer said, “We’re honoured to be one of the official partners of the Expo 2023 Doha and look forward to welcoming visitors to this prestigious event. As the main entry point for travellers, we aim to offer passengers arriving to the State of Qatar an unmatched airport experience and seamless connectivity to the city of Doha and the event.”.
Expo 2023 Doha Secretary General Mohammed Ali Alkhoori added: “We’re looking forward to starting our collaboration with Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport, key the drivers of the country’s travel and tourism industry. Tourism attractiveness will be one of the Expo 2023 Doha central pillars. With an exciting entertainment offering to visitors of all ages – including kids and families - Expo will become the main country’s highlight between the end of 2023 and early 2024”.
China, who held the last Expo in 2021, had handed over the event’s flag to Qatar during a colourful ceremony.
