
Qatar Charity initiates ‘Ramadan of Hope’ campaign worth QAR 133 million

At a recent press conference at Qatar Charity’s (QC) headquarters, the organization announced the launch of a QAR 133 million campaign called ‘Ramadan of Hope’ for the year 1443 AH – 2022 Ramadan. The drive intends to benefit more than two million people in nearly 40 countries apart from Qatar, during the Holy Month.
The press conference was presided by QC officials: Ahmad Yousef Fakhroo, CEO’s assistant for Resource Development and Media Sector; Khalid Abdulla Alyafei, director of programmes and International Development Department; and Faisal Rashid al-Fehaida, CEO’s assistant for Programmes and Community Development sector. Fakhroo urges philanthropists and potential donors to take the opportunity for the coming month of Ramadan and contribute to the cause for underprivileged families and deprived people, so they can meet their essential needs.
The slogan for this ‘Ramadan of Hope’ drive is ‘Dignified for Life’ with the intention that giving returns the hope for a stable and safer life, in turn helping the underprivileged dream of a dignified life.
For the implementation of the drive in Qatar, the campaign intends to deliver QAR 84 million worth of social assistance and implement media programs. The beneficiaries of the ‘Ramadan of Hope’ include low-income families, orphans, workers, those in debt, widows, and other community initiatives.
Seasonal projects under the ‘Ramadan of Hope’ campaign are ‘Feed the Fasting’ (iftaar meals and food packages), ‘Zakat-al-Fitr, ‘Eid Clothing’, ‘Eid Gift’ (for orphans and families), and ‘Ramadan Gift’.
Under the ‘Feed the Fasting’ campaign, the drive lists six different initiatives:
Mobile Iftar for Workers: where nearly 562,000 workers will be disbursed QAR 7.1 million worth of ready-to-eat meals at their places of work and residence.
Mobile Iftar: where iftar meals will be distributed at traffic signals for those unable to reach home before Maghrib Adhaan to break their fast.
Iftar for Expatriates Communities: where low-income and out-of-work families and individuals from the expatriate community will be distributed ready-to-eat Iftar meals.
From Home to Home: where Qatari families will prepare meals and distribute it to families with limited income.
Ramadan Supplies: where vouchers for food supplies in Ramadan will be distributed to low-income families, widows, and expats.
Giving Water to Worshippers: where worshippers will receive water bottles in mosques during Ramadan.
Apart from these the campaign aims to include several other community projects such as Eid Clothing, Ramadan Gifts, Zakat Al-Fitr, Charity Kitchen, Ramadan Box and Khair Homes which are a part of its community outreach and awareness initiatives.
Via Instagram, Qatar Charity also released several iftar package prices for donation to different countries, where those wishing to donate can SMS a code (unique to each country) along with the number of packages they wish to contribute.
