Qatar Drift Championship season to begin today at Qatar Racing Club
The Qatar Drift Championship, featuring some of the nation’s best-skilled drivers, is set to get underway at the Qatar Racing Club later today.
The first event of the 2023-24 season, which promises to give speed enthusiasts and thrill-seekers an exhilarating experience, will begin with a technical inspection for competitors at 4pm. The practice and testing sessions will begin an hour later.
Participants will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the track and optimize their cars during these sessions.
The competition — being held under the patronage of Qatar Racing Club Chairman HE Sheikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Thani — was originally scheduled to begin in October but was postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
The organising committee will hold two qualifying sessions, allowing competitors to prepare their vehicles optimally for the tandem events.
Each participant will have two runs on the track, with their performance determining their placement for the tandem competitions, which begin at 7pm.
A National Category competition has also been added this season with the aim of identifying and promoting local talent.
The category will provide local drivers with a platform to perform in the international championship. A separate ranking system and podium recognition will be dedicated to the top three finishers in each round.
The QRC has done much to ensure that the event is enjoyable for the entire family. There will be a dedicated children’s play area, a service area featuring various restaurants, competitive activities for electronic game enthusiasts, and special car races for children.
The new season of the Qatar Drift Championship comprises five rounds, with the second round scheduled for November 23 and 24.
The third round, which will take place by the end of the year, will be followed by a short break to host the Arab Drift Championship in January, 2024.
The championship will then resume with its final two rounds set for February and March 2024.
