Qatar Foundation always has and always will stand with Palestine, says Sheikha Hind
Qatari leaders, institutions and citizens have been unanimous in condemning Israel’s latest aggression in Gaza, Palestine.
On Thursday, it was the turn of Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Vice Chairperson and CEO Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani to throw her full support behind the Palestinian cause.
Her response came after several Western educational institutions, who operate off-site campuses within QF, sent ‘insensitive’ letters to students about the most recent flare-up in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
With most universities turning a blind eye to Israeli atrocities against the Palestinians, Sheikha Hind spoke up for the oppressed.
She lauded students from QF who were actively involved in organising global awareness campaigns about Israeli atrocities since the recent start of the brutal campaign.
“Witnessing such grave tragedy, I’m heartened by the response from our QF community — with our students leading the way — from raising awareness and debunking fake news on social media platforms to holding discussions in the classroom and coming together to pray and find ways to support from afar,” read a statement released by her office.
Sheikha Hind promised her full support to the community for ‘any activities initiated in solidarity with the Palestinian cause.’
“Like so many of you, I’ve been witnessing the news and events unfolding in Palestine and I’m horrified at the scale of murder and destruction being carried out in Gaza, and the ensuing suffering and humanitarian crisis,” she said.
“I know many of you have family and friends in Palestine and are concerned for their immediate safety, especially those in Gaza. I join you in praying for their safety and send my heartfelt condolences to those of you who have lost loved ones there,” the statement said.
She concluded with a strong statement about QF’s eternal ties with the Palestinian cause.
“Finally, let there be no doubt about this – QF always has and always will stand with Palestine,” she said.
