Qatar Foundation headquarters lit in blue for World Autism Awareness Day
The 2015 Building (Qatar Foundation Headquarters) was lit up in blue on Tuesday night to celebrate World Autism Awareness Day.
The initiative was led by Renad Academy, a specialized school under Qatar Foundation’s (QF) Pre-University Education that supports children with autism.
The initiative was held in collaboration with the Special Schools and Special Educational Needs (SEN) Services at QF that includes Awsaj Academy, The Learning Center and the Ability Friendly Program.
The initiative aimed to spread awareness and encourage community members to accept and support people with autism.
Other QF buildings were also lit in blue, including the Education City Stadium, Sidra Medicine, and Qatar National Convention Centre.
By lighting buildings in blue, QF participates in the global campaign to raise awareness about autism. World Autism Awareness Day was created based on a proposal submitted by QF Chairperson Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser to the United Nations in 2007.
Since 2008, it has taken place every year on April 2.
