Qatar grants QAR 1 million urgent aid for Morocco’s earthquake crisis
Qatar Red Crescent Society has pledged QAR 1 million as urgent aid money for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Morocco that happened late on Friday, September 8, 2023.
The organization announced on its social media that the amount of 274,000 USD equivalent to QAR 1 million will assist in covering basic needs for victims. These would provide blankets, food, first aid, tents, mattresses, and other immediate medical supplies.
With the death toll crossing 800 and counting, the 6.8 magnitude earthquake has proved fatal to several regions of Morocco and caused massive damage on several fronts.
Qatar has pledged its support and condolences to the nation of Morocco with HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani expressing condolence to HM King Mohammed VI of Morocco. Further, Qatari Prime Minister HE Mohammed bin Abdulrahman has declared the State of Qatar’s full solidarity with Morocco in this event.
