Qatar pledges $25 million to support Palestine Refugees
The State of Qatar is providing $25 million to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The contribution, made through the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), aims to support Palestine refugees and the Agency's human development and humanitarian activities in the region. QFFD announced this in a social media post.
In a statement, Sultan Bin Ahmed Al-Aseeri, Acting Director General of QFFD, emphasized the crucial role of UNRWA in delivering aid to Gaza amidst ongoing conflict. He stated, "This contribution reaffirms Qatar's strong support for the Palestinian cause and for addressing the humanitarian situation facing Palestine Refugees."
Tamara Alrifai, UNRWA Director of External Relations and Communications, expressed gratitude for Qatar's ongoing support, highlighting the critical services provided by UNRWA, such as healthcare and education, especially during the unprecedented crisis in Gaza.
