With the 7th Session of the Supreme Strategic Committee between Qatar and Turkey set to take place today, the two countries will ink 11 new deals, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) revealed.

The signing of the agreements will be witnessed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan, who is currently in Doha for an official visit.

Yesterday, at a joint press conference with Turkish Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu, HE Qatar’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani made the announcement regarding the new agreements, which will add to 80 previous agreements between the two brotherly nations.

HE Sheikh Mohammed also expressed Qatar's delight in welcoming HE the President of Turkey to meet with his brother, HH the Amir and to convene the Committee. The talks will focus on the development of bilateral relations as well as discuss regional developments and coordinate positions.

HE the FM hailed the strength of the relations between Qatar and Turkey, highlighting that they have witnessed remarkable growth and development across different areas. He said that the exceptional relations between the two countries are linked to common aspirations and values.

He further mentioned that his meeting with his Turkish counterpart HE Mevlut Cavusoglu was an opportunity to address and discuss regional developments, coordinate positions between the two countries, and talk about various regional issues, especially the developments in Afghanistan. The meeting stressed the importance of joint work and coordination to enhance humanitarian, political and economic efforts, and unify the visions of the international community to extend their support to Afghanistan.

His Excellency also pointed out that his meeting with HE Turkish Foreign Minister provided an opportunity to discuss other issues in the region, including the Palestinian cause as well as developments in Iraq, Syria and Libya.
